Originally from Atlantic Canada, completed early education in Pharmacy followed by medicine at Memorial University, worked in general practice and emergency medicine for seven years then trained in Neurosurgery at Dalhousie University and completed a fellowship in complex neurosurgical spine in Birmingham Alabama. Dr. Reid came to Victoria as the first complex spine neurosurgeon immediately impacting and improving spine care within Island Health. He is the incoming Head of Neurosurgery and currently directs trauma services from a neurosurgical perspective. Dr. Reid focuses his practice on complex disorders of the spine and the management of spinal cord tumors and practices general neurosurgery.
